EBS Automation was commissioned by an international cast components manufacturer, to design and manufacture a simple, robust method for joining three parts together whilst maintaining a sliding tolerance.
This was achieved by a design incorporating a Spin Riveting module. The machine is designed to be a stand-alone self contained facility to be operated by a single person whilst maintaining a high level of quality control on the process.
The individual cast components are located in the machine on specially designed hardened tooling with one set of components being riveted while the other side is being loaded.
The Operator loads the cast components into the tooling and the table is moved by retracting an index plunger and sliding the table manually to the riveting position.
The operator presses a two hand start button located at the front of the machine.
That activates the spin rivet unit, which joins the components together.
The riveted assembly is automatically unloaded into a container when the operator traverses the tooling plate to the next position.
